CHRISTMAS LIGHT TOURS... The closest thing to a sleigh ride in TEXAS! <>  HIGHLAND PARK rides begin Friday, November 28, 2008... Make this holiday one to remember by riding through the elaborately decorated neighborhoods of Highland Park in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage. Snuggle under a blanket, sip hot chocolate and sing carols. You're sure to make this a holiday tradition for family and friends alike! Regularly scheduled tours operate nightly through December 28th, beginning @ 5:45 PM. All seating capacities depend on the size of the passengers. Our carriages seat a maximum of six, but... booking it for only four would allow for a more roomy ride. Our wagonettes, a.k.a HUV'S (horsedrawn utility vehicles!) are available for larger groups and seat 9 or 12 passengers.
There is a new and exciting change this year! Some of our annual family may have already noticed... The place where we have started our rides in the past at the flower shop at Knox/Henderson is no longer there, so we have moved. We will now be loading our rides from the auxiliary parking lot of the Park Cities Presbyterian Church. Not the main parking lot for the church... This is located at 4262 Newton about 100 feet from the intersection of Oak Lawn. Click on "Where to park" below to see exactly where we are. We hope that the change not only offers a safer environment, but also means that we will have new places to show you on our tour, including the signature giant pecan tree decorated each year by the township! That route will take you through the west side of Highland Park, down Armstrong Parkway, Bordeaux, & Versailles, etc. If the new permits allow, we will also offer a new route on the east or older side of town that will travel down Lakeside, St. Johns, and even include the best of Beverly Dr. There's plenty of free parking, and a number of restaurants, and shops in the area, so make a night of it.  We are by reservation only. Carriage ride times are 5:45, 7:00, 8:15, 9:30. These are one(1) hour rides at $165.00 per carriage $275. for the 9 passenger wagon & $325 for the 12 passenger wagon. UPDATE ON AVAILABILITY:::To save you some time and trouble! We have availability only for after Christmas (see MAKE RESERVATIONS HERE). We have 1 carriage available for a private booking on the 23rd.(Minimum 3 hour booking) For larger groups and parties, ask about the 9 and 12 passenger wagonettes.
